Supporting the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training’s English programme

Improving the effectiveness and availability of English language teaching, learning and assessments are important goals for the Ministry of Education and Training in Vietnam.

To help achieve this, the three memoranda of collaboration signed were between:

  1. Cambridge Assessment and Vietnam’s National Foreign Language Project
  2. Cambridge University Press and Vietnam Education Publishing House
  3. Cambridge Assessment and Hanoi University of Science and Technology

Vietnam’s National Foreign Language Project was established in 2008, with the ambitious aim of ensuring most Vietnamese students can speak another language by graduation.

Cambridge University Press has committed to sharing expertise in the development of textbooks, digital education projects and other learning resources with Vietnam Education Publishing House.

After meeting with the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training, the Chief Executive at Cambridge University Press, Peter Phillips, said:

Sharing insights and collaborating to achieve improvements in education are central to Cambridge’s values and we are delighted to be embarking on new ventures with education partners in Vietnam, and taking steps with them towards achieving the ambitious aims of education leaders in Vietnam.

Cambridge University Press works with governments and schools around the world to help deliver improvements to teaching and to students’ understanding and competencies.

Having had a base in Vietnam for nearly 20 years, we’re delighted to be supporting Vietnam’s education system by sharing Cambridge’s expertise, delivering training and providing advice for important educational developments in the country.

The agreement with Vietnam’s Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the largest in the sector, formalised a collaboration to recognise the Cambridge English Qualifications, as well as Cambridge International AS and A Levels.

This memorandum was signed by Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son, the Vice Chancellor at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
