The sciences, mathematics and English continue to be the most popular subjects globally across Cambridge International Education exams.
However, for Cambridge IGCSE, O Level and International AS & A Level, some of the fastest growing subjects suggest that schools are broadening their curriculum to offer students more scope to learn about a changing world:
• Environmental Management: entries up 36 per cent at Cambridge IGCSE & O Level and 30 per cent at International AS Level
• Global Perspectives: up 15 per cent at Cambridge IGCSE & O Level and 17 per cent at International AS & A Level
• Marine Science: up by 26 per cent at Cambridge International AS & A Level
• Computer Science: entries up 14 per cent at Cambridge IGCSE & O Level and 19 per cent at International AS & A Level
In the UK, OCR's A Level Computer Science also had a big increase in entries - up by around 18 per cent on last year. A Level Physics entries increased by 12 per cent and English Literature by 9 per cent.
GCSE subject entry increases include: Maths (15 per cent), Computer Science (7 per cent), Business (14 per cent), and Media Studies (14 per cent). Cambridge Nationals increases in entries include Engineering (12 per cent), Health & Social Care (19 per cent) and Sport (12 per cent).
