Accelerating digital education transformation in the Gulf
HP and Cambridge announce 14 Fellows appointed to take part in the second edition of the HP Cambridge Partnership for Education EdTech Fellowship. The second cohort, which is exclusively developed for senior government officials from Gulf countries, includes Fellows from Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

This November, 14 innovative education technology (EdTech) experts from Gulf countries will join the second edition of the fellowship programme developed by Cambridge University Press & Assessment and HP. Improvements in education technology can positively impact the quality and equity of learning. Learning with technology has the potential to create societies that are not only more inclusive and prosperous, but also ensure that young people are equipped with the skills they need for their careers.
The HP Cambridge Partnership for Education EdTech Fellowship's second cohort spans five months, with a focus on enhancing participants' knowledge, networks, and leadership skills. The goal is to equip them to spearhead meaningful digital transformations for the improvement of education systems.
The Gulf cohort of the HP Cambridge Partnership for Education EdTech Fellowship includes government officials and EdTech company leaders whose work is mainly focused on children’s education, but also Higher Education and adult learning.
The programme, which starts with online study this week, will include a residential course in January 2024, held at King’s College, University of Cambridge in the UK, as well as one-to-one online coaching over the course of five months.
The HP Cambridge Partnership for Education EdTech Fellowship programme supports leaders on multiple levels of digital strategy development and implementation: from mapping the diversity of students and educators to exploring the role of AI and development of policies and governance. During a residential academy in Cambridge, the Fellows will also work together to find solutions to an education system challenge using user-centred design while developing their leadership skills. The Fellows will work on real case studies and will be able to draw from unique networking opportunities.
Fellows joining the programme on a scholarship include Dr Tahani Aldosemani, Programme Director at the Education and Training Evaluation Commission and Associate Professor of Educational Technology at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia.
The Fellowship will be instrumental in sharpening my vision and providing me with the tools to drive positive change. I'm keen on exploring strategies that can bridge the digital divide, ensuring that students from all backgrounds, irrespective of their socio-economic status or geographic location, can benefit from the advancements in educational technology. - Dr Tahani Aldosemani
Dr Aldosemani is joined by Huda Al Bastaki, Ministry of Education Cx Transformation Data Analysis Expert in UAE: “I am excited to join the Fellowship as it offers the opportunity to share knowledge with people working in the same area of interest and work together to find solutions.”

Julia Citron, Head of Education Technology Solutions, Partnership for Education, Cambridge University Press & Assessment said: "Policymakers face the difficult challenge of designing solutions that improve learning across large and diverse student populations. The Fellowship creates a safe and vibrant space where they can reflect on their previous work and current EdTech readiness, develop their ideas through dialogue with regional peers and international experts, and experiment with methods to work more closely with their end users."
The new cohort of Fellows will introduce a fresh perspective to the Fellowship, addressing unique challenges with innovative solutions. Undoubtedly, these endeavours will unlock opportunities for millions of learners in the Gulf region. - Mayank Dhingra, Senior Education Business Leader at HP
Cambridge University Press & Assessment developed the EdTech Fellowship with HP during a Brains Global summit last year. The first cohort included Fellows from 15 countries across Africa. The programme is led by Cambridge’s Head of Education Technology Solutions Julia Citron.
